Pomorska industrija kreće se prema dekarbonizaciji i na tom putu isprobava nova rješenja, ali i poneko staro i modernizirano. Čini se da bi se i jedra mogla vratiti na velika vrata. Kompanija China Merchant Energy Shipping (CMES) preuzela je novi supertanker čija će četiri velika jedra smanjiti prosječnu potrošnju goriva za 9,8 posto, a emisija CO2 će se na ruti od Bliskog do Dalekog istoka reducirati za 2900 tona.

Jasno, nekadašnji primarni pogon na jedra sad je samo pomoćni sustav, ali je zato visoko automatiziran i sve što treba učiniti jest pritisnuti pravo dugme. Kineski Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. (DSIC) nedavno je isporučio M/V New Aden, supertanker dug 333 i širok 60 metara, koji spada u klasu vrlo velikog broda za prijevoz sirove nafte. Porinut je 24. rujna, i dok pišemo ovaj tekst, upravo obilazi Cape Town na putu iz Malezije za Togo.

Četiri jedra, a zapravo karbonska krila na uvlačenje, uzdižu se 40 metara (130 stopa) od palube, a svako ima površinu od 1200 četvornih metara: jedra su postavljena blizu sredine dugačke palube. Ove lagane kompozitne oštrice od karbonskih vlakana otporne na koroziju mogu se podignuti ili spustiti pritiskom na gumb.

Sustav Aerofoil Sails Intelligent Control dizajniran je za stalno praćenje prevladavajućih uvjeta, kao i navigacijskih podataka, te kontinuirano prilagođavanje kuta jedara kako bi se maksimalno iskoristio raspoloživi vjetar. Ovaj sustav nije dizajniran da bude primarni pokretač jer će brod i dalje trošiti puno dizela.

No na primjeru brodske rute između Bliskog istoka i Dalekog istoka očekuje se da će smanjiti prosječnu potrošnju goriva za više od 9,8 posto te uštedjeti procijenjenih 2900 tona emisija ugljikova dioksida po svakom putovanju.

Pomorska industrija kreće se prema dekarbonizaciji i na tom putu isprobava nova rješenja, ali i poneko staro i modernizirano. Čini se da bi se i jedra mogla vratiti na velika vrata. Kompanija China Merchant Energy Shipping (CMES) preuzela je novi supertanker čija će četiri velika jedra smanjiti prosječnu potrošnju goriva za 9,8 posto, a emisija CO2 će se na ruti od Bliskog do Dalekog istoka reducirati za 2900 tona.

Jasno, nekadašnji primarni pogon na jedra sad je samo pomoćni sustav, ali je zato visoko automatiziran i sve što treba učiniti jest pritisnuti pravo dugme. Kineski Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. (DSIC) nedavno je isporučio M/V New Aden, supertanker dug 333 i širok 60 metara, koji spada u klasu vrlo velikog broda za prijevoz sirove nafte. Porinut je 24. rujna, i dok pišemo ovaj tekst, upravo obilazi Cape Town na putu iz Malezije za Togo.

Četiri jedra, a zapravo karbonska krila na uvlačenje, uzdižu se 40 metara (130 stopa) od palube, a svako ima površinu od 1200 četvornih metara: jedra su postavljena blizu sredine dugačke palube. Ove lagane kompozitne oštrice od karbonskih vlakana otporne na koroziju mogu se podignuti ili spustiti pritiskom na gumb.

Sustav Aerofoil Sails Intelligent Control dizajniran je za stalno praćenje prevladavajućih uvjeta, kao i navigacijskih podataka, te kontinuirano prilagođavanje kuta jedara kako bi se maksimalno iskoristio raspoloživi vjetar. Ovaj sustav nije dizajniran da bude primarni pokretač jer će brod i dalje trošiti puno dizela.

No na primjeru brodske rute između Bliskog istoka i Dalekog istoka očekuje se da će smanjiti prosječnu potrošnju goriva za više od 9,8 posto te uštedjeti procijenjenih 2900 tona emisija ugljikova dioksida po svakom putovanju.

Pomorska industrija kreće se prema dekarbonizaciji i na tom putu isprobava nova rješenja, ali i poneko staro i modernizirano. Čini se da bi se i jedra mogla vratiti na velika vrata. Kompanija China Merchant Energy Shipping (CMES) preuzela je novi supertanker čija će četiri velika jedra smanjiti prosječnu potrošnju goriva za 9,8 posto, a emisija CO2 će se na ruti od Bliskog do Dalekog istoka reducirati za 2900 tona.

Jasno, nekadašnji primarni pogon na jedra sad je samo pomoćni sustav, ali je zato visoko automatiziran i sve što treba učiniti jest pritisnuti pravo dugme. Kineski Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. (DSIC) nedavno je isporučio M/V New Aden, supertanker dug 333 i širok 60 metara, koji spada u klasu vrlo velikog broda za prijevoz sirove nafte. Porinut je 24. rujna, i dok pišemo ovaj tekst, upravo obilazi Cape Town na putu iz Malezije za Togo.

Četiri jedra, a zapravo karbonska krila na uvlačenje, uzdižu se 40 metara (130 stopa) od palube, a svako ima površinu od 1200 četvornih metara: jedra su postavljena blizu sredine dugačke palube. Ove lagane kompozitne oštrice od karbonskih vlakana otporne na koroziju mogu se podignuti ili spustiti pritiskom na gumb.

Sustav Aerofoil Sails Intelligent Control dizajniran je za stalno praćenje prevladavajućih uvjeta, kao i navigacijskih podataka, te kontinuirano prilagođavanje kuta jedara kako bi se maksimalno iskoristio raspoloživi vjetar. Ovaj sustav nije dizajniran da bude primarni pokretač jer će brod i dalje trošiti puno dizela.

No na primjeru brodske rute između Bliskog istoka i Dalekog istoka očekuje se da će smanjiti prosječnu potrošnju goriva za više od 9,8 posto te uštedjeti procijenjenih 2900 tona emisija ugljikova dioksida po svakom putovanju.
