Jeleni Tompkins, 34-godišnjakinji iz Kolorada, dijagnosticiran je rak debelog crijeva nakon što je primijetila da joj "vjetrovi" smrde intenzivnije nego prije. Mislila je kako su uzrok probiotici i zdrava hrana koju je konzumirala, no ispostavilo se kako je dijagnoza puno teža, piše Daily Mail.

Tompkins je 2016. godine istrčala je polumaraton, živjela zdravim načinom života i smatrala kako je u formi života. Osim flatulencija koje su smrdjele jače nego prije, nije primjećivala nikakve simptome. Ubrzo nakon tog prvog simptoma, u stolici je primijetila krv, što je prijavila liječniku tijekom sistematskog pregleda.

Liječnik joj je rekao kako je pojava krvi u stolici vjerojatno posljedica promjena u prehrani. Tri mjeseca kasnije otišla je na test intolerancije na hranu kako bi ustanovila je li neka namirnica kriva za njeno stanje. Na kraju je podvrgnuta kolonoskopiji kojom je otkriven treći stupanj raka rektuma koji se proširio na limfne čvorove prenosi Jutarnji list.

- Bila sam u jednoj od najboljih formi u svom životu. Hranila sam se zdravo i nisam razmišljala o tome da ću oboljeti od raka u tako mladoj dobi, rekla je Tompkins.

Stope kolorektalnog karcinoma u porastu su diljem svijeta, uzrokujući epidemiju među mladima. Očekuje se kako će se stope oboljelih kod mladih ljudi udvostručiti do 2030. godine te da će ova vrsta raka do kraja desetljeća postati vodeći uzrok smrti od raka kod ljudi mlađih od 50 godina.

Rak debelog crijeva i rektuma treća je najčešća vrsta raka u SAD-u i treći uzrok smrti kod žena i muškaraca. Očekuje se kako će samo ove godine od te bolesti umrijeti 53.000 ljudi. Stručnjaci još uvijek rade na otkrivanju uzorka ove razorne pandemije, a kao glavni krivci navode se nezdrava prehrana, alkohol i sjedilački način života.

Tompkins je bila podvrgnuta terapiji kemoterapije od 28 dana, operaciji kojom joj je uklonjeno 30 centimetara debelog crijeva i rektuma te 17 limfnih čvorova. Ugrađena joj je stoma kroz koju probavljena hrana odlazi u vrećicu umjesto kroz rektum i anus. Sad je u remisiji i ide na preglede jednom godišnje.

Kolorektalni karcinom teško je dijagnosticirati zbog njegovih simptoma koji se često mogu pripisati drugim stanjima. Najčešće prijavljeni simptomi su bolovi u trbuhu, krv u stolici, proljev i anemija uzrokovana nedostatkom željeza.

Jedan od upitnika pokazao je kako je 68 posto oboljelih primijetio krv u stolici te da je brojnim pacijentima prvotno postavljena pogrešna dijagnoza. Više od polovice ispitanika rekao je kako su im dijagnosticirana stanja poput hemeroida, sindroma iritabilnog crijeva, anemije i problema s mentalnim zdravljem.

Jeleni Tompkins, 34-godišnjakinji iz Kolorada, dijagnosticiran je rak debelog crijeva nakon što je primijetila da joj "vjetrovi" smrde intenzivnije nego prije. Mislila je kako su uzrok probiotici i zdrava hrana koju je konzumirala, no ispostavilo se kako je dijagnoza puno teža, piše Daily Mail.

Tompkins je 2016. godine istrčala je polumaraton, živjela zdravim načinom života i smatrala kako je u formi života. Osim flatulencija koje su smrdjele jače nego prije, nije primjećivala nikakve simptome. Ubrzo nakon tog prvog simptoma, u stolici je primijetila krv, što je prijavila liječniku tijekom sistematskog pregleda.

Liječnik joj je rekao kako je pojava krvi u stolici vjerojatno posljedica promjena u prehrani. Tri mjeseca kasnije otišla je na test intolerancije na hranu kako bi ustanovila je li neka namirnica kriva za njeno stanje. Na kraju je podvrgnuta kolonoskopiji kojom je otkriven treći stupanj raka rektuma koji se proširio na limfne čvorove prenosi Jutarnji list.

- Bila sam u jednoj od najboljih formi u svom životu. Hranila sam se zdravo i nisam razmišljala o tome da ću oboljeti od raka u tako mladoj dobi, rekla je Tompkins.

Stope kolorektalnog karcinoma u porastu su diljem svijeta, uzrokujući epidemiju među mladima. Očekuje se kako će se stope oboljelih kod mladih ljudi udvostručiti do 2030. godine te da će ova vrsta raka do kraja desetljeća postati vodeći uzrok smrti od raka kod ljudi mlađih od 50 godina.

Rak debelog crijeva i rektuma treća je najčešća vrsta raka u SAD-u i treći uzrok smrti kod žena i muškaraca. Očekuje se kako će samo ove godine od te bolesti umrijeti 53.000 ljudi. Stručnjaci još uvijek rade na otkrivanju uzorka ove razorne pandemije, a kao glavni krivci navode se nezdrava prehrana, alkohol i sjedilački način života.

Tompkins je bila podvrgnuta terapiji kemoterapije od 28 dana, operaciji kojom joj je uklonjeno 30 centimetara debelog crijeva i rektuma te 17 limfnih čvorova. Ugrađena joj je stoma kroz koju probavljena hrana odlazi u vrećicu umjesto kroz rektum i anus. Sad je u remisiji i ide na preglede jednom godišnje.

Kolorektalni karcinom teško je dijagnosticirati zbog njegovih simptoma koji se često mogu pripisati drugim stanjima. Najčešće prijavljeni simptomi su bolovi u trbuhu, krv u stolici, proljev i anemija uzrokovana nedostatkom željeza.

Jedan od upitnika pokazao je kako je 68 posto oboljelih primijetio krv u stolici te da je brojnim pacijentima prvotno postavljena pogrešna dijagnoza. Više od polovice ispitanika rekao je kako su im dijagnosticirana stanja poput hemeroida, sindroma iritabilnog crijeva, anemije i problema s mentalnim zdravljem.

Jeleni Tompkins, 34-godišnjakinji iz Kolorada, dijagnosticiran je rak debelog crijeva nakon što je primijetila da joj "vjetrovi" smrde intenzivnije nego prije. Mislila je kako su uzrok probiotici i zdrava hrana koju je konzumirala, no ispostavilo se kako je dijagnoza puno teža, piše Daily Mail.

Tompkins je 2016. godine istrčala je polumaraton, živjela zdravim načinom života i smatrala kako je u formi života. Osim flatulencija koje su smrdjele jače nego prije, nije primjećivala nikakve simptome. Ubrzo nakon tog prvog simptoma, u stolici je primijetila krv, što je prijavila liječniku tijekom sistematskog pregleda.

Liječnik joj je rekao kako je pojava krvi u stolici vjerojatno posljedica promjena u prehrani. Tri mjeseca kasnije otišla je na test intolerancije na hranu kako bi ustanovila je li neka namirnica kriva za njeno stanje. Na kraju je podvrgnuta kolonoskopiji kojom je otkriven treći stupanj raka rektuma koji se proširio na limfne čvorove prenosi Jutarnji list.

- Bila sam u jednoj od najboljih formi u svom životu. Hranila sam se zdravo i nisam razmišljala o tome da ću oboljeti od raka u tako mladoj dobi, rekla je Tompkins.
